April Carman

Program Director

April is a nurse and public health professional with over 10 years of experience in project management, community engagement, health research, and clinical practice. April has worked or volunteered with non-profit organizations, health clinics, community groups, hospitals, and university research departments in Charlottesville VA, Pittsburgh PA, and internationally in South and Central Asia, Central America, and South Africa. She has developed, managed, and monitored projects in community health including health education, nutrition, mental health, reproductive health, and maternal-child health; youth development; housing; bioethics; and emergency response efforts.

April's community-based work including project management, information resource development, community assessment design and implementation, and health questionnaire development and testing inform her interest in and commitment to better data collection and information sharing within organizations and among coalitions. She believes that by collaboratively collecting and sharing information organizations and communities will save time and money, identify needs faster, monitor projects more easily, and better allocate existing resources. April is currently developing two of OKCollaborative's community-wide data sharing initiatives. She is building support and partnerships for the ReferAll Network and setting the groundwork for the KnowLodge.
